Mau Mau, Korea War Games, & More! Rounding Up the Last Month
We have been BUSY, here's some things we have done that you definitely will want to make sure you don't miss.
Dear Guerrilla History listeners,
It has been a remarkably busy month for Henry and Adnan (what else is new?), and a lot of new material has been produced in that time. Let’s get caught up on most of what has come out in that time! Do us a favor as well, and help spread the word by sharing some of the links to things in this newsletter with your comrades - or just forward this newsletter to them in its entirety!
The Mau Mau Uprising
In our African Revolutions and Decolonization series, we have been extremely lucky to have two fantastic episodes on Kenya’s Mau Mau Uprising within the past few weeks. First, we had an outstanding case study episode The Mau Mau Uprising w/ Nicholas Mwangi where we discussed what led to it, how it unfolded, and its legacies. Nearly two hours, and a really clear and fascinating run through of that history. Then, we had a supplemental episode Reflections on Mau Mau w/ Shiraz Durrani, a two hour conversation on the history of the Uprising and its implications. Two wonderful Kenyan guests between these two episodes who really do a great job of providing a detailed and analytical look at the Uprising, and filling in a lot of the historical background which is missing from Western accounts of it. Be sure to check these both out!
Korea War Games & Trump’s Rhetoric on the DPRK
We also were pleased to bring back our friend and comrade Ju-Hyun Park of Nodutdol (whom you should remember from our recent episodes A History of American Imperialism in Korea and Korea Dispatch - Martial Law, Impeachment, and More) for a fantastic discussion on the ongoing US-led war games taking place on the Korean Peninsula, as well as interesting rhetoric coming from the Trump administration regarding the DPRK, Nodutdol's positions on each of these topics, and a brief rundown of the latest in the martial law and impeachment story that we covered last time with Ju-Hyun. Be sure to listen to Korea War Games, Trump's Rhetoric on the DPRK, & More w/ Ju-Hyun Park of Nodutdol, and share it with your comrades who want/need to know more about what is going on in the Korean Peninsula.
Guerrilla History on Other Platforms, and Adnan’s Spinoff Show
In addition to the material coming out through our platform, you can also hear us in a few other places these days. First, and foremost, Adnan has a new spinoff show which you can watch on YouTube - The Adnan Husain Show! If you are a fan of Guerrilla History (and let’s face it, you are probably subscribed to our Substack because you are), you’ll certainly also enjoy those conversations, which are similar to what Adnan was providing through The Majlis previously.
Adnan and Henry were also recently on Revolutionary Blackout Network, discussing a huge variety of topics, so if you want to watch them on YouTube, you also have that as an opportunity.
Henry will be speaking at the Patria Conference of the University of Havana this coming Monday. This conference is on the topic Anti-imperialist solidarity and communication: Past and present experiences, and features really incredible speakers (and many past Guerrilla History guests) such as Manny Ness, Kai Heron, Helen Yaffe, John Bellamy Foster, Paris Yeros, Alberto García Molinero, and many more! Henry’s presentation takes place at 11:10am Eastern Time, and is on the topic Publishing and Radical Alternative Media as Anti-imperialist Practice. You can follow the conference, find out more information/times, and watch live using the following links:

What’s Coming Next?
As always, we have TONS of material coming your way. This Friday, we have an excellent conversation on Revolutionary Papers coming out, and we also have outstanding episodes ready to go as well on Indigenous Diamonds, Media Narratives and Hegemonic Discourses (featuring past guests Stuart Davis and Gregory Shupak), as well as African Revolutions and Decolonization episodes focusing on the Egyptian Revolution, Nasserism, the Congo from Colonization Through Lumumba and Mobutu, recent events in the Eastern DRC, and episodes featuring the Communist Party of Swaziland on their ongoing struggles against Africa’s last absolute monarchy. You won’t want to miss any of that, so be sure to subscribe to the show wherever you get your podcasts, and encourage your comrades to do the same!
